In light of the exponential growth of data generation and the use of IoT devices, the search for a standard is key.
However, due to the differences between all communication protocols and individual device manufacturers, coming up with one unique solution to cover all cases would be illogical.
This is where FIWARE, as an agnostic ecosystem for communications, comes into its own. Thanks to IoT Agents, it is able to translate multiple communication protocols to its universal language: the NGSI protocol. In this way, it separates the acquisition layer from the knowledge layer, thus enabling a common work method for the use of context information.
Therefore, in answer to the question “Why FIWARE?”, we would say:
FIWARE proposes an information management model – context information management – in an area where a standard has yet to be established.
Modules that are already developed and ready to be used. They are open modules, free from royalties and published in a GitHub repository.
FIWARE is the European strategy for standardising the Internet of Things. It is a standard that does not belong to anyone.
More than 150 cities already use it, which allows the solutions being developed based on this technology to target a larger market.
There is a community that promotes, disseminates, supports and funds developments undertaken using this technology.
The Badajoz Provincial Council provides companies, entrepreneurs and researchers with mentoring, a physical workspace, documentation and technical support in person and free of charge in order to promote talent and boost employment in the province.
